Storyline Pelle the Conqueror
The end of the 19th century. A boat filled with Swedish emigrants comes to the Danish island of Bornholm. Among them are Lasse and his son Pelle who move to Denmark to find work. They find employment at a large farm, but are treated as the lowest form of life. Pelle starts to speak Danish but is still harassed as a foreigner. But none of them wants to give up their dream of finding a better life than the life they left in Sweden.

This movie is about a philandering farmer that gets his cock cut off with a blunt cheese knife by his own wife and the not too subtle laying of foundations for justification of communism on grounds of worker and racial discrmmination if Swedes being treated like Kaffirs is what you think this movie is what this drama really is all about. Personally I choose to believe the angle that suggests that because Swedes have no sense of humor they were justly given a hard time......Poor story telling forces the viewer to make up their own sub plots to explain it all as the screen play is truly godawful.....God knows how this drivel won an Oscar, the academy folk must have been plied with Vodka and Cocaine and maybe even naked bitches for that to have become reality...Good acting from the two leads though, fly infested scenes like that deserve honors like an Oscar I guess.....?
